London Gatwick Aviation Academy: exciting new partnership takes flight
A new partnership recently pierced the clouds as Crawley College partnered with the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and London Gatwick Airport to launch the new academy.
This opportunity driven academy is a brand-new skills programme designed to support those seeking work into jobs at Gatwick Airport.
With backing and support from the DWP, those who enrol will receive a specially tailored programme designed to support progression into the airport.
Once they have completed the course, Gatwick Airport will provide students with the opportunity to meet and be interviewed by potential employers.
The exciting partnership was recently cleared for departure at a launch event hosted by Sir Peter Schofield, Permanent Secretary at the DWP, last week.
Also in attendance was the latest cohort of learners, who have enrolled on the programme and will be the very first group to graduate.
Shane, one of the learners who took the course, shared his thoughts when we asked him about the tutors:
“Jo was amazing throughout and provided the best course information in a short period of time. Jo was fantastic and provided excellent support throughout.”
Haydon, another one of the students on the course, added: “Very good teaching made the course interesting and enjoyable.”
Christine Bianchin, Principal of Crawley College, who attended the event, said:
“I was so excited to attend the recent launch of the London Gatwick Aviation Academy alongside our partners at the DWP and Gatwick Airport, and it was lovely to meet our very first cohort of students!
“Programmes like these give our students a fantastic potential route into a really competitive industry to work in. A massive thank you to all those who have made this project a reality, and we can’t wait to see how they do as they progress on to their next chapters in their careers.”
