National Bricklaying Success Cements Crawley College Student's Winning Position
A Crawley College student has recently put herself a brick above the rest, as she placed first in the Guild of Bricklayers National Championships 2026.
Sarah Whitehead, a level two bricklaying student at the college, won the Female Senior category of the tournament, hosted at Leeds College.
She went up against some of the best bricklayers the United Kingdom has to offer, demonstrating real skill and craftsmanship throughout a series of challenging tasks designed to identify the very best in the trade.
The competition rounded off this year’s Guild of Bricklayers annual competition, which saw a round of regional qualifiers held up and down the country, with the Southern Regional Final held at the college earlier in the year.
Christine Bianchin, Principal of Crawley College, said:
“We are incredibly proud of Sarah’s outstanding achievement. To be named National Champion against some of the UK’s most talented bricklayers is a remarkable accomplishment and a testament to her dedication, skill and hard work.
“Sarah’s success highlights the exceptional talent we have at Crawley College, and we look forward to seeing her continue to build a successful career in the construction industry.”
