COURSE OVERVIEW
This programme is designed to provide a good knowledge of various subjects in relation to Travel and Tourism and will give you the opportunity to gain a realistic idea of what a career in the Travel and Tourism sector can offer. If you are thinking of a career in the airline industry, tour operations or retails travel this is the one for you. The units covered in this course are;
- Customer service in travel and tourism
- The UK travel and tourism industry
- Travel and tourism destinations
- Understanding package holidays
- Hospitality in travel and tourism
- Organising an event
- Airports and airlines
- Work experience in travel and tourism
Some trips may be organised throughout the programme and it will be expected that you will meet these additional costs, payable at enrolment. Every learner at Crawley College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 2 essential elements:
- Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 – 16 hours a week.
- English and Maths – Every learner will work towards GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or Functional Skills. Learners who have already achieved a Grade 4 or C will extend their English and Maths through in-class activities.
You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the two elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study or into work.

- GCSEs at grade 3 for English or Maths
Students who successfully complete this course will have the opportunity to progress to Level 3 Diploma in Travel and Tourism or enter straight into employment in the following areas:-
- Airports
- Hotels
- Tour operators
- Travel agents
Each learner is required to create a portfolio of evidence which demonstrates achievement of 100 per cent of each unit.
Students 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips and equipment, a food allowance and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances. Students aged 19 and over will have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. You will need a black suit and tie/scarf which must be worn whenever asked to do so by your tutor
Uniform can be bought direct from any retail shop. Your tutor will discuss the uniform requirements during your interview and enrolment.
Students must wear their uniform whenever asked to do so by your tutor. Students may be asked to represent the college during special events and open evenings once again a uniform must be worn at these times.
