COURSE OVERVIEW
You will learn the principles of Ladies Hairdressing and Barbering services and develop your skills : Units covered are as follows:
- Working in the hairdressing industry
- Maintain Health & Safety in the salon
- Client Consultation for hairdressing services
- Shampoo & condition the hair and scalp
- Promote products and services
- Cut women and men’s hair
- Style and dress both women hair
- Colour hair
- Cutting men’s hair
- Salon reception
- Create an image based on a theme
Students will be required to carry out assessments on clients.
Students will be encouraged to generate their own clientele through social media. Every learner at Crawley College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements:
- Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 – 16.5 hours a week.
- English and Maths – Every learner will work towards GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or Functional Skills. Learners who have already achieved a Grade 4 or C will extend their English and Maths through in-class activities.
- 3E – Our own brand of specific entrepreneurship, enterprise and employability training.
You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study or into work.

4 x GCSEs at grade 3 including English and Maths or 4 x GCSEs at grade D including English and Maths
Successful completion allows progression to a techinical colouring or techincial cutting qualification.
You will be assessed through a combination of practical services carried out on clients.
You will also sit online multiple choice exams for each unit, with a total of 11 exams sat over a period of 5 months.
Students 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips and equipment, a food allowance and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances.

Compulsory Fee £150 this fee goes towards consumables used on your course
