Engineering Diploma – Fabrication & Welding C&G – Level 3

COURSE OVERVIEW

This challenging course is designed for those who have completed level 2 or have relevant industry experience and wish to improve their skills or formalise their qualifications.

All welding is predominantly on Pipe and positional, Mild Steel, Aluminium and Stainless options.

Students are expected to produce welds to BS4872 standard or above and display a high level of self-motivation and independence in weld inspection and fault finding.

Although this is a workshop-based course and Students will already have an understanding of welding plant and consumables, Classroom based learning will underpin Metallurgy, Physics and Maths associated with Industrial Welding and Fabrication.

The entry requirements for the qualification will be assessed on an individual basis. Selection criteria for entry will take into account your existing academic/vocational qualifications and experience, and interest in working in the fabrication & welding industry.

The selection criteria requires you to have achieved one or more of the following:

  • Level 2 Diploma in Fabrication and Welding
  • Employment in an industry where Sheet Metalwork or Welding is included.
  • Reasonable ability in one or more Welding Processes.

You will also need to have gained GCSEs at grade 4 or higher in maths and English or have made suitable progress in both maths and English during your previous course.
