Level 1

Welding Skills Certificate – Level 1

The course runs 1 evening per week 6pm-9pm.

This course provides the perfect opportunity for anyone who wishes to be able to learn how to weld and are unsure which process would be appropriate for them to learn, it also provides a good underpinning knowledge of the processes and associated health and safety.

Students will get to choose three of the four processes offered; MMA, MIG, TIG, and Oxy-acetylene. By the end of the course you will achieve certification in your chosen processes, and have gained a sound understanding of the theory behind them. In addition to this, you will be inducted in the use of the workshop facilities, and have a better understanding of the technical terms involved in welding. This Certificate is an internationally recognised qualification from City & Guilds.

Applicants need to be over 19 and may be those in the industry requiring certification for job progression, people involved in vehicle restoration with limited welding experience, people looking into a career change with no previous experience in the subject, or to those looking for a practical course who do not wish to work within the industry. The workshop is adapted for wheelchair access and welding equipment can be modified.
