Applicants need to be over 19 and may be those in the industry requiring certification for job progression, people involved in vehicle restoration with limited welding experience, people looking into a career change with no previous experience in the subject, or to those looking for a practical course who do not wish to work within the industry. The workshop is adapted for wheelchair access and welding equipment can be modified.

The course runs 1 evening per week 6pm-8.30pm on a Tuesday or Thursday

Progression includes Level 2 Welding Skills, apprenticeships or entry-level fabrication roles. The Level 1 certificate also strengthens apprenticeship applications and access to further technical courses.
Assessment involves producing a series of test welds meeting City & Guilds standards plus verbal questioning on theory and safety. Continuous tutor support helps learners refine technique and build confidence handling welding equipment.
Learners will need welding jackets and steel toe boots, all other PPE is available.
