Students brave cold to create vital wildlife habitat

2 February 2023

Students from Crawley College recently made a trip to Tilgate Park to support key conservation work.

Earlier this month, the group of ESOL (English for Speakers of Other Languages) students teamed up with Gatwick Greenspace Partnership to complete a full day of various landscaping on the grounds.

From clearing large surface areas in the woods to encouraging new planting growth, it was a busy day for everyone involved.

The group worked hard to develop a habitat liveable and economically friendly for the park’s wildlife.

Helen Jerromes, ESOL lecturer at Crawley College, said: “I am really proud of the work carried out by the students, especially in these cold temperatures.

“Although they were kept on their toes from start to finish, they have made a big difference for the wildlife in Tilgate Park, and have come away with an array of new skills!”

“Thank you to Gatwick Greenspace Partnership for having us!”
