COURSE OVERVIEW
You will be able to experiment and discover a variety of art and design techniques and further develop your own creative and technical skills. You will explore painting, drawing, photography, print-making and range of 2D and 3D techniques. You will also develop your own portfolio of work that will support your progression onto Level 2. Every learner at Crawley College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements:
- Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 – 16 hours a week.
- English and Maths – Every learner will work towards GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or Functional Skills. Learners who have already achieved a Grade 4 or C will extend their English and Maths through in-class activities.
- ACES –
You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study or into work.
FURTHER INFORMATION
. It is important that any applicant has a passion for all elements of art. If you have done GCSE Art at school that that is an advantage. Also, if you have a portfolio of work or examples of art you have done yourself, then we would like to see this too.
Minimum entry requirements
GCSE math’s and English grade 1 or 2
Student who successfully complete the UAL level 1 course can continue to study the UAL level 2 Art course offered at Crawley College if they have achieved UAL Level 1 MERIT including GCSE math’s and English grade 3. or 4 other GCSE grade 3 including math’s and English.
Assessment will be undertaken throughout the year with tutors marking the work that you have submitted for your portfolio. You will undertake 8 units with a variety of work produced for each unit – including animation, 2D and 3D work, portfolio and research evidence and your work in an exhibition too.
