COURSE OVERVIEW
This one-year course is designed for students who have a passion for the performing arts and are eager to develop their existing skills in acting, dancing, and/or production.
The course aims to help students learn how to effectively communicate and collaborate with their peers through group work, as well as develop a deeper understanding of dance and drama in preparation for Level 3 studies. With built-in units focusing on investigating progression routes, students will also have the opportunity to explore their own goals and aspirations within the industry.
Throughout the course, students will have the chance to enhance their performance and production skills, while also gaining valuable experience through a variety of performance opportunities. These opportunities include showcases within the college, at the renowned Hawth Theatre, and at other performance sites, providing students with a platform to showcase their talents and creativity. Every learner at Crawley College will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. • Subject Course -; Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 -; 16 hours a week. • English and Maths -; Every learner will work towards GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or Functional Skills. You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study or into work. There may be occasions when students may need to attend their course in an evening. These rare occasions will be when the course is undertaking a live performance or when extra rehearsals are needed.
FURTHER INFORMATION
A genuine interest in the subject is required. It would be an advantage to have some experience of working in theatre or on shows but not compulsory.
Minimum Entry Requirements
4 GCSE’s Grade 3 or above. This must include Maths & English.

A Merit in UAL Level 1 Performing Arts & Grade 3 in Maths & English.
The course is excellent preparation to a Level 3 Diploma in Performing Arts course.
Minimum Entry Requirements for Level 3
Students must achieve a Merit on the Level 2 course and a Grade 4 in Maths & English to progress onto the Level 3 course.
Units 1-8 are assessed internally and are fully embedded within the projects through the academic year. Unit 9 is your Final Major Project and is externally assessed. You must complete Units 1-8 successfully before participating in Unit 9 work. Several full-scale production will be developed throughout the course to be presented within college, at college events at the Hawth Theatre and in other site-specific venues.
