T Level in Education and Childcare
COURSE OVERVIEW
This is an exciting new course that has a mixture of technical knowledge and industry placement to give you the skills and experience you need to work with children. The course is made up of core knowledge and understanding and an occupational specialism of early year’;s education and childcare which will give you the knowledge and understanding to work within any early years setting.
You will learn about the curriculum and how to support children’;s learning in the early years and primary schools. You will explore child development, childhood theories and philosophical approaches, as well as observing children, supporting health and care routines, safeguarding, working with families and much, much more.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Entry requirements are 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 (or A*-C) including English Language and Mathematics. Previous work experience with children will support your application. A satisfactory reference and a clear DBS check is required. We will also consider those who have a previous level 2 qualification in childcare e.g. Level 2 Diploma for Early Years Practitioner. It is a requirement of the industry that all those working and/or training in an Early Years Settings must undergo a Disclosure Barring Services Check (DBS) at the enhanced level. Please be aware that if the DBS check comes back, with anything being flagged that may be of some concern, your application could be withdrawn following a meeting with the Head of Learning.
Students will be able to apply for Higher Education Degree’s at University e.g. teaching, early childhood studies, education and social work degrees. Employment: nurseries, primary schools, family homes and holiday rep.
You will be assessed by a variety of internal and external assessments, which include exams and assignment based projects. You will also be assessed whilst out in the work place.
