T Level in Education and Childcare


This is an exciting new course that has a mixture of technical knowledge and industry placement to give you the skills and experience you need to work with children. The course is made up of core knowledge and understanding and an occupational specialism of early year’;s education and childcare which will give you the knowledge and understanding to work within any early years setting.

You will learn about the curriculum and how to support children’;s learning in the early years and primary schools. You will explore child development, childhood theories and philosophical approaches, as well as observing children, supporting health and care routines, safeguarding, working with families and much, much more.


Entry requirements are 5 GCSEs grade 4-9 (or A*-C) including English Language and Mathematics. Previous work experience with children will support your application. A satisfactory reference and a clear DBS check is required.

We will also consider those who have a previous level 2 qualification in childcare e.g. Level 2 Diploma for Early Years Practitioner.

It is a requirement of the industry that all those working and/or training in an Early Years Settings must undergo a Disclosure Barring Services Check (DBS) at the enhanced level. Please be aware that if the DBS check comes back, with anything being flagged that may be of some concern, your application could be withdrawn following a meeting with the Head of Learning.

You’ll be prompted to create an account which will allow you to log in to our Application Tracker website whenever you wish. This will provide you with important information and you can also track the progress of your application.

Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.

Step 3

Application Review Meeting

Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.

Step 4

Accept Your Place

Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.

Step 5

What next?

Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
