COURSE OVERVIEW
We are delighted to offer the new T-Level Transition Programme in Engineering. This is a new type of 16-19 Study Programme designed to develop the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed to progress onto the T-Level at level 3. The course is designed to provide a range of qualifications in Engineering and develop your skills in the workshop and in the electrical electronic labs. The course includes a City and Guilds qualification to ensure students develop core engineering skills through rigorous assessment. On the course you will also study applied English and Maths and learn how these link to a career in Engineering. You will also engage in industry projects in readiness for this requirement in the T-level.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is suitable for candidates who have achieved their L1 in Engineering already, or who have significant knowledge and experience in the industry.
We would recommend students have achieved a grade 4 or above in either English and Maths to study this programme.
Upon achievement you will have the opportunity to advance onto the Engineering T-level or an apprenticeship in Engineering at level 3.
The course is assessed through Knowledge Module exams as part of the City and Guilds 4505 and coursework portfolios. You will be expected to develop practice synoptic assessments that prepare you for the T-level. You will also complete work experience as part of the programme and GCSEs in English and Maths.
Students are advised to purchase their own Personnel Protective Equipment (PPE) such as overalls and boots in the first weeks of the course. The likely cost of this is approximately £45. The PPE allows you to fully participate in the practical components of the course, in accordance with the relevant Health and Safety regulations. PPE is used throughout the student’;s time on the Engineering programme.
An important part of all vocational courses at Chichester College is work experience. You are expected to complete work experience over the period of the course. This gives you invaluable experience of working life, and can lead to increased employment opportunities. If you are under 19, and not in possession of Grade 4 GCSE’;s in Maths and English, you will continue to work towards them whilst at the college.
You will work our industry placement officers to support you with your placement. There will be financial support available to apply for to support you to complete your placement.
