COURSE OVERVIEW
This qualification is intended for those who want to gain the knowledge and abilities that will enable them to progress into employment within the plumbing industry as an improver/qualified plumber, or help gain the underpinning knowledge to progress onto a Plumbing NVQ Diploma to eventually become a qualified plumber.
The course covers the nine units below and study will be spent divided between theory sessions in the classroom and practical session in the workshop.

The theory aspect of each topic is assessed by an online multiple choice exam which must be passed to achieve the qualification. The practical aspects are assessed by workshop tasks to given criteria.
The course is run over one academic year from September to June and attendance to college is over 3 days. You may also be required to attend a maths and English class depending on your entrance grades.
Students attending this course will be expected to provide their own tool kit and personal protective equipment and will also be expected to get textbooks to help their study.

You must be at least 16 years of age and have achieved both GCSE English & Maths at grade 3-9
This course is suitable for those who wish to work within the plumbing industry but who are not yet employed in the industry, and would like to build up their CV and gain this qualification to enhance their chances of employment as a plumber, or gain an apprenticeship and eventually become a qualified Plumbing Engineer.
Progression onto City & Guilds 6035 Plumbing Level 3 Diploma or alternatively if employment gained in the industry candidates can progress onto the City & Guilds Level 2 NVQ Diploma.
Learners will be assessed through practical and theory exams throughout the academic year.
Students 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips and equipment, a food allowance and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances.
