NVQ Level 2 Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations
COURSE OVERVIEW
To achieve this qualification learners must complete all the units from the mandatory group and a minimum of ONE unit from Optional Group A, and a minimum of TWO Optional groups from B-G.
If you choose two groups from Optional groups B-F, you must achieve a minimum of two units from each group that you have chosen, if you choose Optional group G as one of the Optional groups, you choose one unit only from this group.
Mandatory Group: Learners must complete all the units in this group
- Moving, Handling and Storing Resources in the Workplace
- Deliver reliable customer service
- Conforming to Productive Working Practices in the Workplace
- Conforming to General Health, Safety and Welfare in the Workplace
Learners must complete at least one unit from this group:
- Installing, Maintaining and Removing Work Area Protection and Safety Equipment in the Workplace
- Erecting and Dismantling Access/Working Platforms in the Workplace
- Clearing the Site and Handing Over on Completion in the Workplace
Optional Group B – Maintenance Carpentry and Joinery: Learners must complete at least two units to achieve this group:
- Repairing, Replacing and Renewing Gates, Posts and Fencing in the Workplace
- Maintaining non-structural or structural components in the workplace
- Maintaining Non-structural Carpentry Work in the Workplace
Optional Group C – Maintenance Painting and Decorating: Learners must complete at least two units to achieve this group:
- Preparing Background Surfaces for Plastering, Tiling, Panelling or Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
- Hanging Standard Paper Wallcoverings in the Workplace
- Applying Paint Systems by Brush and Roller in the Workplace
Optional Group D – Maintenance Tiling: Learners must complete at least two units to achieve this group:
- Tiling Wall and Floor Structures in the Workplace
- Removing and Renewing Floor Screeds in the Workplace
- Preparing Background Surfaces for Plastering, Tiling, Panelling or Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
Optional Group E – Maintenance Plastering: Learners must complete at least two units to achieve this group:
- Preparing Background Surfaces for Plastering, Tiling, Panelling or Painting/Decorating in the Workplace
- Applying finishing plaster to prepared surfaces in the workplace
Optional Group F – Maintenance Roofing: Learners must complete at least two units to achieve this group:
- Repairing sheeting and cladding systems on roofs and walls (including rainscreen) in the workplace
- Repairing membrane roofing systems in the workplace
- Removing and repairing eaves and verge finishings in the workplace
- Maintaining Slate and Tile Roofing in the Workplace
Optional Group G – Maintenance Trowel Operations: Learners must complete at least one unit to achieve this group:
- Repairing basic stonemasonry structures in the workplace
- Repairing and Maintaining Masonry Structures in the Workplace
FURTHER INFORMATION
There are no formal entry requirements to take this NOCN Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations (Construction) qualification. This qualification can be undertaken without any previous training or qualifications in this subject area.
This qualification has been developed for achievement in a real workplace environment which means the learner must be employed to undertake this qualification.
When you complete the NOCN Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations (Construction), you’;ll have the skills, knowledge and confidence to progress to a higher-level qualification in the same or a related trade area.
With further training or experience, you could also move into supervisory or management roles in the workplace.
This qualification is widely recognised across the industry and can be used on its own to support entry into a relevant job role.
You’;ll be assessed on a set of skills and knowledge that come from the National Occupational Standards for Building Maintenance Multi-trade Repair and Refurbishment Operations (Level 2).
You’;ll work with a qualified assessor who knows your trade area and is there to guide and support you throughout the qualification.
As part of your course, you’;ll build a Portfolio of Evidence. This will show how you’;ve met the required skills and knowledge for each unit. Your assessor will explain exactly what you need to include and help you along the way.
