COURSE OVERVIEW
This qualification is designed to provide learners with the knowledge, understanding and skills required to develop competence as a senior healthcare support worker in a range of healthcare support settings. It is designed for those who wish to work or are already working in healthcare settings in England, such as in a hospital, as part of a community team, in a day case unit, individuals’; homes, nursing or care homes, hospices and in general practice.
FURTHER INFORMATION
Learners should be at least 19 years old.There are no specific prior skills/knowledge a learner must have for this qualification. However, learners may find it helpful if they have already achieved a level 2 qualification.
On completion, learners can progress on to qualifications within the following areas:
- healthcare
- social care
- adult nursing
- allied health profession therapy
On completion, learners can progress to the following job roles:
- senior healthcare support worker
- community support worker
- senior healthcare assistant
- therapy assistant
- rehabilitation assistant
- enablement worker
Learning will be delivered through classroom-based teaching, online learning, and practical sessions alongside allocated work placement activities and independent study. Assessments will include knowledge and competency-based elements. Learners will compile a portfolio of evidence demonstrating knowledge and competence.
