Learners will already hold a Level 3 qualification in vehicle maintenance and repair which will need to be presented prior to starting the training. Although not mandatory, it is also highly recommended that learners will have 3 A*-C grade GCSEs in Mathematics, English and a Science.

Why this course?
This award is designed for technicians who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles. It contains the knowledge and skills required to work safely in and around the vehicle’s high and low voltage electrical system and electric drive train system whilst carrying out repairs or maintenance.

Individuals from the automotive industry who maintain/repair vehicles or the public service sector who may attend an accident involving an electric/hybrid vehicle. Learners should hold a relevant Level 3 qualification, or equivalent, which will need to be presented prior to starting the training.

This qualification will help support progression onto qualifications that further develop their knowledge and skills within a technical role, carrying out diagnosis, repair and testing of high voltage components on Electric/Hybrid vehicles at level 4.
In order to pass this qualification, candidates must demonstrate its learning outcomes by following and achieving its 2 assessment components: 4 Practical Assessments and a Multiple Choice Online Test.
All candidates will be required to wear suitable PPE for the workshop environment. Specialist PPE and Tools will be provided for the course. Training will take place over 2 consecutive days.
