- Identify different types of electric and hybrid vehicles and understand their key components and systems.
- Recognise hazards associated with high-voltage electrical systems and assess risks in emergency situations.
- Apply safe working practices when approaching, handling, or working around damaged EVs and hybrids.
- Explain how to reduce the risk of injury, including use of safety procedures during incidents or breakdowns
- Describe safe methods for recovering, transporting, and storing electric and hybrid vehicles.
After completing this course, learners can progress to further electric/hybrid vehicle qualifications such as IMI Level 2 or Level 3 in EV maintenance and repair. It also supports progression into apprenticeships, emergency services, or roles in vehicle recovery and the wider automotive industry.
Teaching is delivered through a mix of classroom-based learning and practical activities, helping students understand EV hazards and safe working procedures. Learners are assessed through an online test and tutor questioning to confirm knowledge and understanding.
