COURSE OVERVIEW
L2 Furniture Making – Diploma in Wood Machining FT & PT
The course builds on L1 Carpentry & Joinery learning how to use woodworking machinery to manufacture furniture. Along with knowledge of career pathways in the industry, professional responsibilities, sustainability in the trade & including health & safety within the furniture industry.
Assessment is ongoing through the year with 10 units which all need to be completed. This includes the passing of practical tasks & theory assessments & will include some online exams.
Progression routes include L3 Bench Joinery, L3 Furniture Manufacture & L3 Site Carpentry.
Equipment required includes: A textbook, notebook, tape measure, corded headphones for theory lessons, 2H pencils, a maths set of drawing equipment and PPE equipment including safety boots, dust masks, eye protection and suitable gloves.
Attendance is 3 days a week for full time students. For part time students attendance is either 2 nights a week for 3 hours each night or 6 hours a week attending during the day, infilling with full time students.
Course length is 35 weeks.
