Jewellery Making (Intermediate and Advanced Levels)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The courses cover the skills required to make a pendant with traditional hand skills and then moves on to designing and making your own rings, brooches and necklaces.
The college provides the equipment necessary to design your own style of silver jewellery and has no constraints on the type of design you wish to make.
During the Jewellery Making for Intermediate and Advanced Levels you will cover the skills required to design and make your own rings, brooches and necklaces. The college provides all equipment necessary to design your own style of jewellery, however you will be asked to provide your own materials for your projects. On this course you will have the chance to:
Intermediate:
  • Sketch out or discuss your design ideas and design a piece based on this
  • Use more intermediate jewellery-making skills e.g. piercing, filing, drilling and polishing
  • Construct a piece of jewellery using a new skill you have previously not tried
Advanced:
  • Decide your objectives with the tutor
  • Achieve a higher standard of design and craftsmanship
  • Realise your designs by making use of challenging techniques (e.g. stone setting and chain making)

There are three courses in 2024-25. Course dates and times are listed below:

23/09/2024- 03/12/2024 (19:00-21:00) – Mondays

13/01/2025-24/03/2025 (19:00-21:00) – Mondays

14/04/2025-30/06/2025 (19:00-21:00) – Mondays

Please note: this course does not run in the college half term or end of term breaks.

The Jewellery Making for Intermediate and Advanced Levels is suitable for those who have participated in Jewellery making courses previously and have a good level of experience.
