COURSE OVERVIEW
The courses cover the skills required to make a pendant with traditional hand skills and then moves on to designing and making your own rings, brooches and necklaces.
The college provides the equipment necessary to design your own style of silver jewellery and has no constraints on the type of design you wish to make.
During the Jewellery Making for Beginners course, you will spend the 10 weeks of the course covering the skills required to make a pendant with traditional hand skills. Skills that you will learn include:
- Cut and form sheet metal and wire
- Texture, anneal and solder metal
- Experiment with different materials and finishes
There are three courses in 2024-25. Course dates and times are listed below:
24/09/2024- 03/12/2024 (19:00-21:00) – Tuesdays
14/01/2025-25/03/2025 (19:00-21:00) – Tuesdays
15/04/2025- 24/06/2025 (19:00-21:00) – Tuesdays
Please note: this course does not run in the college half term or end of term breaks.
FURTHER INFORMATION
The Jewellery Making for Beginners is suitable for those with no previous experience.
You can continue onto the follow up sessions of the Jewellery making courses to continue your learning.
We also offer other Adult learning courses in languages and other areas in art & design.
There is no assessment during the class, you will work through constructing your own jewellery pieces.
Upon completion you will receive a college attendance certificate.
