COURSE OVERVIEW

Our Level 4 Higher National Certificate (HNC) in Electrical and Electronic Engineering offers you a robust foundation for your future studies and career. This qualification is designed to provide you with the essential skills and knowledge needed to excel in the engineering field.

Our HNC Electrical and Electronic Engineering for England course is a Higher Technical Qualification (HTQ), developed in collaboration with industry employers and aligned with current industry standards. This course is approved by the Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education’;s Occupational Standards, ensuring you receive a qualification that meets the demands of the Engineering sector.

The Level 4 units lay the foundation of your learning by providing a broad introduction to the engineering sector, as well as a focused introduction to electrical and electronic engineering. This develops and strengthens your core skills while preparing you for more specialist subjects at Level 5 or to enter employment with the qualities necessary for job roles that require some personal responsibility.

You’ll gain a wide range of scientific and engineering knowledge linked to practical skills obtained through research, independent study, directed study, and workplace scenarios. You’ll be involved in vocational activities that help you develop behaviours (the attitudes and approaches required for competence) and transferable skills. These skills, such as communication, teamwork, research, and analysis, are highly valued in higher education and in the workplace.

By the end of Level 4, you’ll have a sound knowledge of the basic concepts of electrical and electronic engineering. You’ll be competent in a range of subject-specific skills as well as in general skills and qualities relevant to these key areas of engineering.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have one of the following.
Two A-levels in Maths and another technical subject.
Level 3 Diploma in Engineering with at least a merit
A suitable level 3 apprenticeship in Engineering.
Appropriate work-based knowledge and competency.
