Diploma for Entry to the Uniformed Services Level 2

COURSE OVERVIEW

This qualification is designed to prepare you to be a ‘potential recruit’; in any of the Uniformed Services.

It will prepare you to make a recruitment application.

It can also act as a ‘stepping stone’; to a level 3 course.

You will benefit from the expertise of teachers who also have backgrounds in the Armed Forces and other Public Services.

They will give you an insight into careers including -;

The British Army, Royal Navy, Royal Air Force, Royal Marines, the Police, Fire Service, Ambulance Service, Border Force, Immigration Services, Civil Services.

We have strong links with the Armed Forces and Emergency Services, and this will enable you to take part in relevant visits and activities during your course.

Fitness is also a major part of our Uniformed Services Courses, preparing you for the Armed Forces or Emergency Services selection tests you may eventually have to undertake.

You will need a good standard of English to communicate with members of the public and to write-up notes and reports. You will participate in Role plays and leadership roles within a team. You will learn personal skills which are used in the Uniformed Services.

Maths skills will be needed for map and compass work and for planning team requirements.

Examples of units covered include -;

  • Investigate employment in the uniformed services
  • Develop team working and problem-solving skills
  • Physical fitness for the Uniformed Services
  • Undertake adventurous activities
  • Carry out map reading and navigation

FURTHER INFORMATION

You will need a minimum of GCSE English and Maths at grade 3 or above and two other GCSEs at grade 3 or above or a Level 1 qualification (for progressing students).
