Previous completion of a Laser Level 1 Fabrication & Welding qualification or equivalent is required. You should also have 4 x GCSEs at grade 3 or higher to include Maths, English and a Science based subject.
Progression from Level 2, Students can progress straight on to the Level 3, or or use the skills acquired to increase your employability enabling you to pursue an apprenticeship.
This programme is classified as a unitised programme, this means that each unit is assessed individually. Your tutor will work with you on each unit to ensure that the work that you are completing meet the standards set by the awarding body, if it is you will be signed off for that unit and you will move on to the next one.
At the end of the year, you will be expected to show a level of practical and theoretical competence, which will be demonstrated by the completion of practical welding tasks, sheet metal assemblies, and both online and written exams.
There is a compulsory fee for the course of £75.
This covers costs for materials and consumables.
You are required to provide your own personal protective equipment, these are mandatory for use in the workshops and are not part of the course cost.
Students 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips and equipment, a food allowance and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances.
