COURSE OVERVIEW
Are you a school leaver eager to delve into the world of practical skills and craftsmanship? Look no further than Crawley College’s comprehensive Level 1 Fabrication and Welding Course.
Throughout this full-time program, you will gain skills in the fundamentals of fabrication and welding, mastering essential techniques under the guidance of experienced industry professionals.
Welding is a vital skill with wide-ranging applications across various industries, from construction and manufacturing to automotive and aerospace. In this course, you will learn the art of joining metals using different welding processes, including MIG, TIG, and ARC welding. You will also gain proficiency in interpreting technical drawings, understanding metal properties, and practicing safety protocols, ensuring you are well-prepared for the demands of the industry.
Moreover, the course emphasises sheet metal work, providing you with hands-on experience in shaping, cutting, and forming various metal sheets to create functional and aesthetic structures. From fabricating components for machinery to crafting intricate designs, sheet metal work opens doors to diverse career opportunities in fabrication shops, construction companies, and beyond.

There are no formal entry requirements for the qualification, and you are not expected to have any prior knowledge or experience. You may be assessed to ensure that the level of the qualification is appropriate. Selection for entry will take into account your existing academic/vocational qualifications, experience, interest in working in the fabrication and welding sector and study towards English and Maths.
On completion of the Level 1 Fabrication and Welding Course, you will have gained a solid foundation for a rewarding career in the skilled trades. Our state-of-the-art facilities, dedicated instructors, and industry-aligned curriculum ensure that you are equipped with the knowledge and expertise needed to excel in the dynamic field of fabrication and welding.
After successful completion, you can choose to continue your journey by studying our Level 2 Diploma in Welding and Fabrication, or into an Apprenticeship (dependent upon full time employment within the fabrication and welding industry).
This programme is unit based, this means that each unit is assessed individually. Your welding instructor will work with you on each unit to ensure that the work that you are completing meet the standards set by the awarding body and by industry.
There is a supplementary fee for the course of £125 which helps covers costs for materials and consumables.
You are required to provide your own personal protective equipment, these are mandatory for use in the workshops and are not part of the course cost.
Students 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips and equipment, a food allowance and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances.
