COURSE OVERVIEW
The course is designed to prepare you for a career in construction and offers an opportunity to learn experience and learn the skills from the following trades:
- Bricklaying
- Carpentry
- Ceramic tiling
- Painting and Decorating
- Plastering
The course also covers:
- Health and Safety
- Roles and Responsibilities in Construction
- Business Planning
- Self-Employment
Assessment is ongoing and the course is timetable over 3 days a week.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is suitable for those who have successfully completed Skills for Employment diploma Level 1, and are not employed in the construction industry who wish to gain a recognised qualification and seek employment in the construction industry.
On the successful completion of this course you will be ready to start an apprenticeship in Property Maintenance or start a career as a multi-trade operative.
You will be assessed by the completion of a Portfolio and a number of Practical Tasks. Assessment is ongoing and you will be assessed when you are ready.
Students 16-18 year olds will not have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Please note: You may be entitled to a Bursary payment to help with costs such as travel to College, trips and equipment, a food allowance and childcare. To qualify you must be resident in the UK and meet the eligibility criteria which will include evidence of your financial circumstances. Equipment lists will be provided before enrollment Students aged 19 and over will have to pay tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees. Equipment required includes: A textbook, notebook, 5 Metre tape measure, corded headphones for theory lessons, 2H pencils, a maths set of drawing equipment and PPE equipment including safety boots, dust masks, eye protection, Hi-Viz vest and suitable gloves.
