GCSE English students take part in book challenge
GCSE English students at Crawley College completed a week-long challenge aimed to familiarise them with the library.
The 2-hour sessions, organised by GCSE English lecturer, Rachael Riley, alongside her colleagues, Shari Cox, Yvonne Hammond and college librarians, Lesley Lowe and Sue Smith, was set out to encourage students to find a children’s book they remembered from childhood and write out the first line on a colour card, which then made a rainbow on the wall.
A total of 319 students from 29 classes took part, with a second challenge organised for students to find a book that took their curiosity.
The assignment was also aimed to grab the readers’ attention, while also familiarising themselves with the library.
The students then had to take a picture of a view from the library or somewhere in the library they liked. These were emailed to the library via a QR code.
