We look at each application individually, considering your grades, interview and any relevant experience. We typically expect students to have achieved 64 UCAS points or MPP in a Level 3 diploma, alongside grade 4 in GCSE English and Maths. Mature students who don’t meet these standard entry requirements may be able to show us their potential through relevant experience. Applicants whose first language is not English and who do not have GCSE English will be asked to take an IELTS assessment or equivalent and will need to achieve an overall score of 6.0, with 6.0 in the writing element and at least 5.5 in all other sub elements.

Further information
Ideal for learners wanting targeted higher-level upskilling or those building credits toward a full HNC/HND. Suits engineers seeking deeper technical insight into automation, digital systems and modern manufacturing environments.
- Control concepts and technical analysis.
- Digital principles and applications.
- Mechatronic systems and integration.
- Practical fault-finding and diagnostics.
- Professional and workplace behaviours.
Credits contribute toward a full HNC or HND. Learners may progress into skilled engineering roles, degree apprenticeships or technical positions where automation, digital control and cross-disciplinary problem solving are central to the role.
Assessment is through project-based assignments, reports and practical demonstrations that mirror real engineering tasks. You’ll receive ongoing tutor feedback to refine diagnostic reasoning, communication and applied use of engineering tools across both units.
