COURSE OVERVIEW
This course is designed for learners who wish to progress onto a Level 1 programme but need some extra support to attain the goal, alongside improving their English and Maths skills.
An individualised programme is developed for each learner that where applicable is based on Educational Health Care Plan outcomes and vocational study programme options.
The learning programme will be be designed to meet the individual students’ needs and help them fulfil their aspirations. Regular progress reviews will be held in partnership with the learner – this may include parents, carers and other professionals.
They will choose three options from the list below. These options will run for half a day every week for the whole year. They will attend mainstream classes with mainstream teachers but only with their Gateway 4 peers in the session. This will help them to decide which level 1 course is best suited to them for the following year.

FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is for you if you are working at Entry 3 level looking to progress onto Level 1 vocational or academic courses, employment in future, or want to build on your existing skills.
The second year in this programme is for students who are not quite ready for the level 1 progression route and would benefit from an additional year in Foundation.
Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to make a more informed choice of your vocational pathway and progression.
This might include progress onto a Level 1 vocational course, Supported Internship, an Apprenticeship or employment.
This will be reviewed throughout your time at college and discussed at your progress and transition reviews in terms of individual pathway.
You will achieve a Level 1 Award in Occupational Studies for the Workplace which develops a variety of key skills to transfer to employment or further studies. You will be assessed practically, through verbal and written work, and will produce a portfolio of evidence.
Maths and English are included as part of the program.
