COURSE OVERVIEW
The course consists of college attendance, a 40 hour project (completed in your own time) and a final exam. The course is set at level 4 which is one level higher than other electrical qualifications and at the same level as year one of university study. The 2396 is a 3 month long course intended to train you to design electrical installations. Whilst rooted in BS 7671 it expects students to interpret and apply regulations using standard design practices. You will be required to show good progress with your project work before the College will allow you take the written exam. Help will be given during the course with the project but this work must be done in your own time. Course content includes:
- Statutory and non-statutory requirements relating to electrical installation design, construction management and verification
- The electrical installation design, construction and commissioning process
- BS 7671 requirements relating to electrical installation design
- Design and verification procedures for single and poly phase electrical installations
- Fundamental principles for the design and installation of associated protective systems relating to electrical installations
- Factors that affect choice of alternative energy sources and environmental technologies used within electrical installation design
This course is also available as a day time course.
FURTHER INFORMATION
This course is suitable for experienced Electricians working with little or no supervision who are looking to update or develop their electrical installation and verification knowledge and techniques.
Candidates wishing to enrol on the course must hold, as a minimum, the City & Guilds Inspection & Testing 2391-52 (or the City & Guilds 2394/5) and the City & Guilds Requirements for Electrical Installations (2382-18).
Completion of this qualification may assist in progressing your career as an Electrician.
On successful completion of the qualification candidates may wish to continue onto the following qualifications:
- City & Guilds Level 4 Higher Professional Diploma in Building Services Engineering
- ILM Leadership and Management qualifications
The course consists of one written examination and candidates are required to complete an assignment of installation as home study, which will be submitted at the end of the course and marked.
Course Cost – £720.00.
The course cost includes registration with the awarding body and examination fees.
Candidates may wish to purchase the 18th Edition BS 7671:18 Requirements for Electrical Installations (IET Wiring Regulations).
