This qualification provides a solid foundation for a career in carpentry and joinery, helping you move into employment or take the next step in your training with the Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Wood Occupations.
This qualification is assessed through the completion of a portfolio of evidence, demonstrating your competence and knowledge in the workplace. You’ll gather evidence from your day-to-day work activities, supported by a qualified assessor who will guide you throughout the process. Evidence can include direct observations, workplace documentation, electronic records and witness testimonies, showing how you meet the requirements of each unit within the qualification.
As well as demonstrating practical skills, you’ll also need to provide evidence of your knowledge and understanding. This may be assessed through professional discussions, questioning, recognised industry training programmes or performance-based evidence. The assessment process takes a holistic approach, focusing on your overall work experience rather than individual tasks wherever possible. This allows evidence generated from your normal workplace activities to be used across multiple units, creating a more efficient and realistic assessment experience while ensuring all qualification requirements are met.
