GCSE English Language opens many doors to promotion, a change of career, higher level courses (including Access to Higher Education courses) and even university.
Functional Skills assessments are graded as either a ‘pass’; or ‘fail’;.
Functional Skills Level 1 can be taken online or as a paper exam. They are externally assessed and carried out in exam conditions at the assessment centre.
GCSE exam dates are set by Ofqual, the exam watchdog that regulates qualifications. There are three 1.5 hour exams. All students across the country sit the exams on the same date and time, usually the middle of May and the beginning and middle of June.
You may be fully funded by the Government if you have not already achieved grade C-A* or grade 4-9 in English.
You will need to bring a pen. Highlighters can also be useful.
