This course is designed for learners who maintain and repair electric/hybrid vehicles and have the knowledge and skills required to work on live high voltage vehicle electrical components and associated systems. Note:Applicants must hold a Level 3 Electric/Hybrid Vehicle System Repair and Replacement qualification and have completed it at least 6 months prior to the start of the Level 4 qualification. This will be requested upon receiving an application. This unit does not cover commercial or domestic electrical installations including charging equipment and cables

Why this course?
This course is designed to further your understanding of the HV Battery management for both Nickel Metal Hybrid and Lithium Ion batteries, the operation and control of Inverters/Converters and the methods to control 3 phase Synchronous brushless drive motors/generators. It will involve diagnostic and data gathering to diagnose HV system faults and the repairs associated.

- High voltage battery management
- Battery failure diagnosis and repair
- Inverter construction and function
- HV Fault diagnosis and repair
- Safety management processes
On completion of the course and the written assignment you will gain the Level 4 Award.
Assessment will be through 2 practical tasks and a written assignment. The assignment will be issued at the start of the course and is expected to be completed within 2 months of the training taking place. Failure to complete the assignment will mean that certification will not be awarded.
