Celebrating Crawley College
23 February 2023
Students and staff across Crawley College have been showcasing their areas, following a campus-wide challenge.
At the start of term, Principal Sally Challis-Manning MBE, set a challenge to departments to ‘Celebrate Crawley’ by creating fantastic displays which really highlight and celebrate the diversity and amazing work taking place in all areas of the college.
Judging took place just before half-term – with a panel that included Louise Blackwell, Creative Director of Creative Crawley and Ryan Sallows, a member of Chichester College Group’s Governing Body and Business Manager at Oriel High School, as well as James Pinnock-Johnson, Student President, and Sophie Beeden, Student Vice President.
The winning department was revealed to be ‘Early Years and Health & Social Care’, while the ‘Service Industries’ department was highly commended.
Sally said: “I was deeply moved by the huge amount of effort that went into making the displays so vibrant, full of energy, diversity and creativity.
“Who would have thought we have our very own ‘Banksy’ here at Crawley College too!
“The displays demonstrate a very real sense of pride in the college and our community, they really are works of art.
“I know many students and staff put in extra hours in creating them and pass on a massive thanks to each of them.”
The judges were all impressed with the work on show.
Ryan said: “It was fantastic to visit the college and see so many creative displays on show. Everyone should be proud of their work.
“The college looked great and these displays certainly add to a positive learning environment all over the campus.
Louise added: “It was a real treat to experience all of the fabulous noticeboard displays around the whole college. Every nook and cranny had been utilised and it’s clear the staff and students had made a big effort.
“From original murals on the walls to colourful collages, the work really brightened up the building and shared lots of useful information.”
