About the course

Topics covered will include:

  • hazards and controls
  • food safety
  • management and temperature controls
  • food poisoning control
  • personal hygiene
  • cleaning and disinfection
  • food pests
  • the role of the food handler in keeping food safe.

On successful completion of the qualification delegates will know that food safety is the responsibility of everyone involved in the storage, preparation, cooking service and handling of food. Its topics are regarded by the Foods Standards Agency as being important to maintaining good practice in the production of safe food.

 

WHO CAN JOIN?

This qualification is suitable for anyone working in the catering and hospitality industry or those about to start work in the industry.  It is also appropriate for those providing services to catering premises including pest-control operators, maintenance engineers, cleaners, and laundry and delivery personnel.

Whilst there are no formal entry requirements for this qualification, it is advised that delegates have a minimum of Level 1 in English and Maths or equivalent.

 

 

 

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED

Delegates will sit an assessment at the end of this qualification.  The examination contains 30 questions that must be completed within one hour. Successful delegates will have to achieve a pass mark of 66%.

Delegates must bring with them to the assessment photographic ID.  This can be:

  • Valid Passport (any nationality)
  • Signed UK Photo card Driving Licence
  • Valid Warrant Card issued by HM Forces, Police
  • Other photographic ID card, e.g. Employee ID Card (must be current employer), Student ID Card, Travel card

£85.00 per delegate (fee includes exam and course book)

AFTER COMPLETING THE COURSE

Successful completion allows progression to Level 3 Award in Supervising Food Safety in Catering.
