About the course
You will develop your knowledge and skills relevant to a range of jobs you can do in the Public Services. These include roles like police officer, fire fighter and soldier. This will include learning about the contribution they make to our society. After this you will get the chance to show you have what it takes to do a range of tasks required for work in the public services, including carrying out projects and keeping people safe and secure.
The course is highly practical and will involve you planning and going on expeditions into the countryside and developing your own personal fitness. If this sounds like you, or something you’d like to get into, then get in touch to find out more.
Every learner at Crawley College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements:
Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 – 16 hours a week.
English and Maths – Every learner will work towards GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or Functional Skills. Learners who have already achieved a Grade 4 or C will extend their English and Maths through in-class activities.
3E – Our own brand of specific entrepreneurship, enterprise and employability training.
You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study or into work.
