Crawley College student named Guinness’s Apprentice of the Year
George Turner, a level 2 carpentry and joinery apprentice at Crawley College, has recently won the Guinness Partnership’s Apprentice of the Year Star Award.
The award celebrates George’s outstanding progress in the role and his dedicated support for customers.
He has been attending Crawley College since 2023, taking weekly classes that cover theory and practical sessions.
George is an apprentice joiner at Guinness, one of the UK’s largest housing associations, where he works on a range of tasks, including crafting wooden building components like doors and windows.
Set to complete his apprenticeship training later this year, he has already transitioned into a full-time role at Guinness.
Last year, George also completed a climb up Mount Snowdon in memory of his dad, who passed away from cancer. He teamed up with two friends and raised £1,030 for Cancer Research UK.
Dean Wynter, Acting Principal of Crawley College, said:
“We are incredibly proud of George and all that he has achieved. Winning the Apprentice of the Year award is a testament to his dedication, hard work, and commitment to developing his skills.
“He is a fantastic role model for our students, and we look forward to seeing his continued success in the future.”
