Crawley College Competitor places at prestigious bricklaying challenge.
Staff and students celebrate as bricklaying newcomer placed third at the recent Guild of Bricklayers’ Southern Region Competition.
Imogen Stevens secured third place in her category despite being just six months into her course at Crawley College.
Hosted at Chichester College, the competition also welcomed competitors from Chichester College, City College Southampton, City of Portsmouth College, and Fareham College on Tuesday 16 April.
Split between junior and senior competitors, supporters were thrilled to discover that junior competitor, Imogen Stevens, secured third place despite being just six months into her course.
Andy Denman, Bricklaying Lecturer at Crawley College, said: “Within two weeks of Imogen starting the course, I thought we are on to a winner here.
“Her attitude to work, positivity, determination, and lively personality should be an inspiration to all.
“These attributes, together with Imogen’s excellent practical ability and skills are what led her to the fantastic achievement in the Guild of Bricklayer’s Southern Region Junior competition.”
At the awards ceremony Imogen was presented with various high-quality tools and an official certificate to mark her hard efforts during the day-long challenge.
Sally Challis-Manning MBE, Principal of Crawley College, added: “We are absolutely thrilled for Imogen and her incredible success.
“The competition was the perfect opportunity for both Imogen and the other competitors to build some confidence in their craftsmanship.
“I want to say a huge congratulations to all competing students and look forward to following Imogen’s journey.”
