Freshers Fun at Crawley College

08 September 2017
New and returning students all got together earlier this week to kick off another academic year with their annual Freshers fair at Crawley College.

The 3 day celebration attracted a wide range of companies from West Sussex Fire Service to Pizza Hut, who all came armed with lots of information, fantastic deals and even a few freebies for the students. Despite the rainy weather, the college also hosted a free barbecue and activities throughout the afternoon on each day. Local radio station Runway was also broadcasting live from the college as part of festivities.

One of the event organisers, Keeley Macconnell commented on the success of the event “With this year’s Freshers Fair, we really wanted to put on 3 days of pure fun to celebrate the start of a new college year. We were super lucky to have such fantastic support from our local community and of course staff across the college”.

Scott, from Anytime Fitness spoke about how he is looking to provide work experience opportunities for some students simply through speaking to them at the event. “I spoke to over 100 students today and so I’ve really enjoyed it. All in all, they were really engaged and I’ll be contacting a few of them regarding work experience in the near future”.

As well as Freshers Fair, both new and returning students have been enjoying a variety of activities across the college as part of their induction week. Access to Health Care and Social Professions students enjoyed a guest presentation from the Education Liaison Officer at Kingston University, whilst the new Business students got some well needed advice from ex-students who have progressed into higher education.
