Ramesh Shingadia joined the Corporation in March 2010 and was a member of the Curriculum, Quality and Standards Committee. He currently sits on the Task & Finish Group on revising the Instrument and Articles of Government and on the Special Committee.

Ramesh is a successful local business and property developer, combining that with his passion as a retail consultant working at Board level with several companies including KPMG, Unilever, Skillsmart Retail and the Association of Convenience Stores. His experience and passion with Skillsmart Retail, the Government Council for training in the retail industry was extensive, including the implementation of the Apprenticeship scheme in the retail industry. He was also a non-executive director with the Horsham and Chantonbury Primary Care Trust (PCT), and chaired the Capital Development Committee for Horsham Hospital, the Working Lives committee including provisions for staffing at Horsham Hospital, and the IT Committee. He is also the current chair for the West Sussex Police Independent Advisory Group.

He is an active community player and has championed several community projects including a large community and cultural centre project in Crawley. This included gaining planning permission and acquiring the site for a now successful centre.

He is passionate about adding value in the community and sees education as one of the key pillars in improving individuals and communities. He believes in lifelong learning. Ramesh has a number of qualifications including an MBA, a degree in Civil engineering, and a qualification in Purchasing and Supply Chain Management.

Ramesh has lived in Horsham for over 30 years, is married with two children and enjoys going to the gym, cycling and is an avid trekker.

Ramesh is Vice Chair of the Board, and is an ex-officio member of the Audit Committees.
