T Level Level 3 Electrical Installation – THIS REPLACES THE CURRENT LEVEL 3 Electrical Installation Qualification


This course is suitable for those aged16-18 years old. This is an exciting and new qualification for construction students to learn about building services at a level 3 standard. You will cover core content related to the construction sector and choose an occupational specialism in electrical installation.

Your learning will cover a broad range of topics and practical skills. The learning mix is practical and theory, so that you can develop your skills in research, problem solving, solution-development, communication and collaboration. Your English, Maths and Digital skills will be important too, especially in this digital age.

Your practical learning will be designed so that you develop your experience with your occupational specialism.

The College also has a dedicated team of industrial placement officers who will help you organise work experience with employers, so that you can get real-world experience as part of your qualification.

Core content

The core content covers a whole range of topics related to the industry.

Health and safety in construction
Construction science, design, sustainability and measurement principles
Construction & the built environment industry
Building technology principles
Information and data principles
Relationship management in construction
Digital technology in construction
Commercial/business principles in construction
Occupational Specialism is Electrical Installation

You will choose one occupational specialism from the building services route. The contents of the occupational specialisms below is currently under development and may be subject to change. Our construction department has a T Level Lead for Building Services and this member of the team has responsibility to lead on the delivery of this qualification. More information will appear on our website over the next few months.


The electrical specialism is likely to cover:

Health and safety practices
Tools, materials and equipment used to complete tasks
Systems and products
Analysing and using information
Installing, commissioning, and decommissioning
Maintaining electrical and electronic equipment systems

Industry Placement

The T Level will include a minimum of 315 hours of learning on work experience placement. Our Industrial Placement Officers will help you link-up with an employer and complete placements relevant to the qualification.


As we recognise that every learner has a different background, we will hold a professional discussion with you at interview. This will help us assess your suitability for the course.
GCSEs: You will need a minimum of 5 GCSEs graded between 9 – 4 (or A* -; C). This must include GCSE (or equivalent) English and Mathematics with grade 4 or higher in each (or grade C or above). A science subject is also desirable.
Age: You will need to be aged between 16 -; 18 years old at the start of the qualification.
You may also have completed a Level 2 Diploma in relevant subjects.
You are likely to be someone who: Has an idea as to the role that you wish to pursue in your career and is eager to gain experience through an industry placement.
If you don’t meet our entry requirements, we recommend our in-house one year T Level Transition course. This will help prepare you for the T Level in the subsequent year.


Step 1

Set Up Your Account

You’ll be prompted to create an account which will allow you to log in to our Application Tracker website whenever you wish. This will provide you with important information and you can also track the progress of your application.

Complete each step of the application form and then submit your completed form. We’ll let you know when we’ve safely received it with an acknowledgement email.

Step 3

Application Review Meeting

Before offering you a place at college, we’ll meet with you (either in person, by telephone or online). We’ll send you a link to our booking page where you can select a time that’s convenient for you.

Step 4

Accept Your Place

Offers will be sent to you via the email address you have provided. The offer will be conditional, based on predicted GCSE grades. You’ll need to accept your offer within 14 days to secure your place.

Step 5

What next?

Once you receive your GCSE results, you’ll need to get in touch with the college to inform us of them and start your enrolment process.
