Mental Health First Aid Awareness

COURSE OVERVIEW

The course is the official Mental Health First Aid England qualification. There has been research to suggest the below advantages of taking part in Mental Health courses:

  • Raises awareness and mental health literacy
  • Reduces stigma around mental ill health and feel confident guiding people towards appropriate support
  • Boosts knowledge and confidence in dealing with mental health issues
  • Encourages people to start a conversation with a person who may be experiencing a mental health issues
  • Promotes early intervention which enables recovery.

The half-day course covers the below main topics:

  • What mental health is and how to challenge stigma
  • A basic knowledge of some common mental health issues
  • An introduction to looking after your own mental health and maintaining wellbeing
  • Confidence to support someone in distress or who may be experiencing a mental health issue. This will be formatted as one 4 hour session and can be on the college site or your own customer site. Please enquire for details.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Designed for those who have interest and want further understanding of mental health at work and at home, and aim to become a qualified Mental Health First Aider down the line or just want to expand their knowledge in this field.

There are no formal entry requirements. Candidates should be able to discuss mental health issues confidently throughout the group exercises and should be willing to contribute to enhance the experience and learning.
