COURSE OVERVIEW
Are you ready to take your career in the metalworking industry to new heights? Our Level 3 City and Guilds Diploma Evening Class is tailor-made for individuals over 19 who are seeking to advance their expertise in fabrication and welding.
Designed for those with prior training or experience in the field, this comprehensive program delves into advanced techniques and practices, empowering you to excel in your role and pursue new opportunities.
With a focus on MIG, TIG, and sheet metal units, you will deepen your understanding of these essential processes through hands-on training and theoretical instruction. From mastering precision welding techniques to honing your skills in shaping and manipulating metal sheets, you will gain the proficiency needed to tackle complex projects with confidence.
Our evening class schedule, consisting of two nights per week, offers flexibility for working professionals to balance their career commitments while investing in their professional development. In-college hours will be 17.30-21.00 Tuesday and Thursday and there will also be an expectation of a minimum of 3 hours per week research and assignment work completed outside of college.
Whether you’re looking to enhance your current role, transition to a new specialization, or pursue higher-level certifications, this diploma program provides the stepping stone you need to reach your goals.

To ensure you can succeed, you need to have prior experience in fabrication and welding. This could be in the form of a technical qualification or relevant industrial experience.
You may be asked to complete a trade test at interview to ensure you have the required entry skills.
The natural progression route from Level 3 is into employment within the industry
This programme is a unitised method of study that is predominately carried out in the workshops. On this programme you will need to complete 4 mandatory units and 2 specialist units.
Each unit is assess individually with both knowledge and skills tests.
The cost of the course is £3345

Level 3 Entitlement: students aged 19-23 years old?
If you are studying for your?first?qualification at Level 3 will be fully-funded, which means your tuition fees, awarding body registration or exam fees will be covered.
If you hold a full level 3 but are on a low income you can be funded through free skills for jobs.
If neither of these apply to you, there is an advanced learner loan available that you only pay back monthly once you are earning a higher wage.
Level 3 Entitlement: students aged 24+
If you do not have a full level 3 then the course is funded under the free skills for jobs offer.
If you hold a full level 3 but are on a low income you can be funded through free skills for jobs.
If neither of these apply to you, there is an advanced learner loan available that you only pay back monthly once you are earning a higher wage.
Advanced Learner Loans Learners who are aged 19 and over and studying Level 3 – 6 Further Education and training programmes.
Advanced Learner Loans will give learners in further education access to financial support for tuition costs, similar to that which is available in Higher Education. This means rather than an individual having to pay for their course upfront they have the option of accessing a loan, from the Student Loans Company, that they will only start to repay once they have left the course and are earning over £25,000.
