COURSE OVERVIEW
Essential ESOL is a full-time course for 16 – 18 year olds who are settling in the UK and require English development as an additional language. The course includes ESOL (Speaking, Listening, Reading & Writing skills), Basic Literacy, Communication & Team-Building Skills, UK Culture, Citizenship, Social Skills, Numeracy, ICT, Enterprise, Employment Skills, Vocational Taster Options and Tutorial. The Tutorial provides support and input on some of the information and life skills needed to live in the UK as well as pastoral/personal development support. RARPA sessions are implemented as a part of the study programme, to allow learners to have access to an individualised approach to learning and to build a study programme that allows them to follow their own progression.
ESOL exams are taken throughout the year, beginning in January and ending in June.
Functional Maths is taught in order to allow learners to be able to use the correct language for numbers, money, work, time and life style choices. Numeracy qualifications are taken during Numeracy sessions, at appropriate levels.
Students will have the opportunity to try vocational subjects including Motor Vehicle, Hairdressing & Barbering, Hospitality & Catering and I.T. & Media.
