C&G L2 Ext Tech Dip Occupational Entry in Engineering (Fab and Weld)

COURSE OVERVIEW

The Extended Technical Occupational Entry in Engineering (Fab and Weld) will equip you with the essential knowledge, practical skills, and professional behaviours needed to work within the welding and fabrication industry.

Designed to be hands-on, engaging, and motivating, this qualification will support your pathway into employment in welding and fabrication. It covers range of welding techniques that will develop your skills with a variety of material and in a range of weld positions. You will also study fabrication techniques, being able to create 4 dimensional objects from a drawing.

Every learner at Crawley College who is under 19 will undertake a personal Study Programme designed to develop them academically, practically and personally. Study Programmes contain 3 essential elements:

  • Subject Course – Vocational or chosen Academic subject, usually studied for 12 – 16 hours a week.
  • English and Maths – Every learner will work towards GCSE grade 4 in English and Maths or Functional Skills. Learners who have already achieved a Grade 4 or C will extend their English and Maths through in-class activities.
  • PDP – Our own brand of pastoral support and development.

You will have specific time in your timetable for each of the three elements above and you will be expected to attend all elements throughout the year. Study programmes are designed to help you meet your maximum potential and progress to the next level of study or into work.

FURTHER INFORMATION

Every applicant will be assessed on an individual basis that will look at areas such as experience, prior training, academic level and interest in working in the welding and fabrication industry.

You will need to have prior welding & fabrication experience and be working at a Grade 3 or higher in GCSE English and Maths.
